What year is your character? 7th year

What classes does your character take? Astronomy, DADA, Potions, Transfiguration, Arithmancy, Charms, & Ancient Runes. She received an O score on her OWLs for each one except for Transfiguration and DADA, where she received an E. She is interested in working as an Unspeakable for the Ministry.

What kind of wand does your character have? (please research this and have it fit your character) Her wand is made from Yew wood. This is quite fitting, as yew is not only the symbolic tree of the day before the winter solstice, it also is the traditional tree of death, and is often planted in cemeteries. Kezia's last name, Levaya, is a Yiddish word that means funeral, and her first name means "tree bark" in Hebrew, so it is quite fitting that her parents named her after the symbolic tree of the dead. The core of her wand is a Phoenix feather, a graceful creature that symbolizes death and rebirth.

Does your character own a broom? She owns a Shooting Star, but she isn't into flying. She mainly used it as a form of transportation before she learned to Apparate. She isn't really interested in Quidditch - she'd rather watch a game than play.

Does your character have any special abilities? Kezia is brilliant in Ancient Runes and Arithmancy. She is an expert in Kaballah, the study of Jewish mysticism & numerology, a practice and tradition which has been passed down by her family through the ages.

Describe your character’s flaws and magical weaknesses: Kezia struggles a bit in Transfiguration and DADA - they are subjects she really has to work hard in to score highly, while she feels like a natural in some of her other classes. Although she still does well in her classes, she doesn't really enjoy subjects that involve a lot of wandwork, but she knows that she will need to learn them in order to be an Unspeakable.

Kezia has very dark and wavy brown hair that is nearly black, and grey eyes. She has olive skin, is very slender and small in stature, measuring about 5'3". Natalie Portman is her body model.

Is your character Muggle born, half-blood, or a pureblood? Explain it. Kezia is a pureblood. Her family comes from a long line of Russian Jewish Witches and Wizards. Her parents are named Galina and Mikhail Levaya.

Character Background/History: Kezia's paternal grandparents, Ekaterina and Ivan Levaya emigrated from Russia to Israel (Palestine) in 1930, fleeing the pogroms of Russia before WW2, where most of their family had died. There they made their home, in Haifa. They were involved with the Zionist movement, and they worked as shipping importers, feeling the need to immerse themselves in Muggle life as not to be suspected of anything "strange." They imported Muggle goods, but also occasionally transported magical items through the shipping lines. They had one son, Mikhail, in 1928.

Kezia's maternal grandparents also emigrated to Israel (Palestine) from Russia, in 1935. Their names were Lilia and Pavel Chazenkov, and their daughter Galina was born in 1932. Before they left Russia, they sent Galina away to England to live with her cousin Miriam and attend Hogwarts (sorted Slytherin), in an attempt to keep her safe from the impending war and prejudice towards Jews. Pavel worked as an apothecary, and Lilia ran a school in her home for Wizarding children. After leaving Hogwarts, Galina decided to return to her family, who were living in Tel Aviv, Israel by then.

While in Israel, Galina trained to become an Arithmancy Master, while Mikhail followed in his father's footsteps as an importer of magical and Muggle substances. They met by chance, in a bar in the wizarding part of town. A year after they married, they had a daughter, Chaya (born in 1980), who was sent to Hogwarts (sorted into Ravenclaw) when she turned 11. Seven years later, Kezia was born. She showed signs of magic early on. When she was five, she asked her mother for a cookie, and when Galina said no, the cookie promptly flew across the room from the cookie jar into Kezia's hand. Kezia was raised in Israel until she turned 10, when her parents decided to move to London in order to be closer to Chaya and be near Kezia when she attended Hogwarts. They still visit Israel every summer, as they have a beach house in Haifa.

Kezia's parents weren't the richest, but they spoiled her greatly, being the youngest daughter and feeling like an only child when her big sister was away at school. Starting from a young age, she decided that she would always get what she wanted, and never failed to convince her parents of this. She has always been very ambitious, driven, and has never stood down from a challenge. Her parents were not at all surprised when she was sorted into Slytherin house.

While she is indifferent to blood feuds between purebloods and muggleborns/half-bloods, she is a bit stuck-up and considers herself to be a bit better than others due to her long and pure bloodline. She also is a bit intimidating due to her foreign accent. She plays this up much to her advantage and has given herself an air of sophistication. She demands and earns respect from the other students. Even if they don't like her, they wouldn't dare say anything behind her back. She may not be as filthy rich as some Slytherins, but she has enough drive, ambition, and cunning to make up for it.
